HPAY: create a payment link
This guide shows you how to ask for payment by making a link. You send the link (or QR code) to the payer, and they pay you from their own wallet.
Who it's for: anyone who wants to get paid without explaining addresses.
What you'll need
- Your @name or your Quai address (starts with
0x00). You do not have to connect a wallet to create a link. - The person paying needs a Pelagus or Blip wallet, the requested asset, and QUAI for the network fee. For QUAI requests, the payer also needs QUAI for the amount.
Steps
- Open hartiibiome.com/hpay and click the Create a link tab. (Just want your own link or QR code? The Your link tab shows them as soon as your wallet is connected, with or without a handle.)
- In the recipient field, enter where the money should go. This is usually you: your
@nameor your0x00…address. It is baked into the link. - Choose an amount mode:
- Fixed amount: type the amount in Amount (QUAI).
- Payer chooses: the payer types their own amount (good for tips and donations). Not available with a dollar price.
- US dollars (choose it next to the amount; Beta, since Games/Biome 1.21.0): type a price in dollars and a QUAI preview appears. Pressing Create link takes a fresh quote and locks the QUAI amount for 15 minutes. See "Dollar links" below.
- For a WQI request, choose WQI in Payment asset and enter an exact amount. WQI is not dollar-priced; the link asks for WQI base units and the payer needs separate QUAI for gas.
- WQI must first pass the page's check of the reviewed token deployment. If that check is unavailable, wait and try again; do not substitute a different token.
- Optional: open More options.
- Memo (optional): a note the payer sees, up to 140 characters.
- Link expires: Never, 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days. A dollar link always uses 15 minutes (price lock).
- Bill reference (optional) or Order reference (optional): a label shown on the request/receipt. It is not written to the chain and cannot prove that a biller or order was paid. Letters, digits and
. _ : -, up to 64 characters.
- Press Create link.
- Under Your HPAY link you get the link plus a QR code. Use Copy, Share, or Open in Blip.
- Send it to the payer by message, email or show the QR code.
What the payer sees
They open a public payment page. It shows the Recipient, resolved address, exact asset and amount, separate QUAI gas and any link memo. A WQI request displays WQI; it does not convert to QUAI. They review and approve the transfer in their own wallet. A returned transaction hash is not confirmation: the page checks the receipt and block before it shows the confirmed state. Twelve confirmations is the cautious default, not a measured finality guarantee.
Dollar links (Beta)
A dollar link asks for a fixed QUAI amount that was worked out from your dollar price when you pressed Create link.
- The price comes from at least two of three price sources (MEXC, Gate.io, CoinGecko) that must be fresh and agree within 2 percent. If they do not, the page gives no price.
- The QUAI amount is locked for 15 minutes and rounded up, so you are never short. After that the link cannot be paid. Make a new one for a new price.
- The last digits of the amount are a tag that makes it unique, so the chain shows which link was paid. The payer's page shows the exact amount in full, and tells people paying from another app to send exactly that amount.
- The result card counts the lock down and turns to Paid by itself when the payment is confirmed.
- The payer cannot pay in the last 45 seconds, because a payment sent then could land after the lock ended and would not count.
- The dollar figure is your price. The payer's page says "the person who made this link says it is worth $X. Nothing here checks that." The chain only records QUAI.
- A payment of the wrong amount, or one that arrives late, is never marked Paid. Check it by hand.
Dollar quotes apply to QUAI only. WQI is a direct token amount with no qualified WQI/USD price or dollar peg. HPAY does not swap, wrap or unwrap WQI, and it does not contact a utility or other biller.
Fees and limits
- No HPAY service fee. The payer pays only network gas, shown before they sign.
- Memo: 140 characters at most.
- Amount: 100 characters at most.
- 12 confirmations is a placeholder until Quai finality has been measured.
- A shared link carries its recipient, amount and optional memo/reference. Anyone who receives it can read those fields; the hosting site receives the URL request. Do not put private information in a link. HPAY does not create a private hosted bill record.
- An expired link shows "This link has expired" and cannot be paid. Make a new one.
Common mistakes
- Qi address. Native Qi addresses are not supported for QUAI or WQI payment. Use a Quai account address starting with
0x00. - Typo in the recipient. Check the address the page resolves to before you share. A link with a wrong address sends money to the wrong place.
- Private info in the memo. The memo travels inside the link and can end up in chat history or browser history. Keep it simple.
- Using an @name as your recipient. A handle link looks up the current owner of that name when it is opened. If you need the destination fixed forever, use your address.
- Payer on the wrong network. They must be on Quai Mainnet (chain 9).
- Payer says it's pending. Ask them for the Transaction link and check it on Quaiscan. Tell them not to pay twice until it is clear.
- Old PayLink links from before the rename remain native QUAI Request v1. WQI requests use asset-bound Request v2 and a
WQI:recipient marker; older v1-only readers must refuse them, not reinterpret them as QUAI. See HPAY Request v1 and v2.
