HPAY: send to an @name

This guide shows you how to pay a friend by typing their Hartii @name or pasting a Quai address. Native QUAI and direct WQI support ship in Games/Biome 1.27.0.

Who it's for: anyone who wants to pay someone on Quai without copying a long address.

What you'll need

  • A Pelagus wallet (desktop browser extension) or the Blip app (on mobile, open the page inside Blip).
  • For native QUAI, enough QUAI for the amount plus a network fee (gas). For WQI, enough WQI for the exact amount and separate QUAI for gas.
  • Your wallet switched to Quai Mainnet (chain 9).

Steps

  1. Open hartiibiome.com/hpay and tap the Send to @name tab (the page opens on Your link; a payment link with ?to= opens straight on Send).
  2. In Send to, type the person's @name (3 to 16 letters, numbers or _) or paste a Quai address that starts with 0x00. HPAY looks the name up on-chain before anything is sent. If it works, you will see who it resolves to.
  3. Choose the Payment asset. For QUAI, enter an amount in Amount (QUAI). For WQI, choose WQI and enter its exact amount; the page checks the pinned token before enabling the asset.
  4. Optional: open More options and add a Memo (optional), up to 140 characters. The memo is a note for the share link, not part of the on-chain transaction, so never put private information in it.
  5. Press Review send. A review card shows To, the full Address, exact Amount and Network fee. WQI review also identifies the WQI contract and shows its balance and the separate QUAI gas reserve.
  6. Check the address and amount carefully. This is your last chance to catch a typo.
  7. Press Connect Pelagus (or Connect Blip) and approve the connection in your wallet.
  8. Press the Send button. Your wallet opens a prompt. Check the recipient, exact asset/amount and network again, then approve. A WQI send is a direct token transfer; gas is paid separately in QUAI.

What you'll see after sending

  • First: Sent. Waiting for confirmation on-chain. and a Transaction link. "Sent" only means your wallet handed over a transaction.
  • A moment later: In a block. It counts as final after 12 confirmations; the transaction link shows how many it has. Your payment is in a block. Use the Transaction link on Quaiscan to watch the confirmations. The number 12 is a placeholder until finality on Quai has been measured, not a proven safe depth.
  • If you see Still pending, wait and use the Transaction link to check its status on Quaiscan.
  • If you see The transaction was mined but failed (status 0), nothing was delivered, though gas may still have been used.
  • After the node proves that the exact original transaction reverted, a still-valid fixed request can be reviewed again with the same request identity. A confirmed, unknown or expired fixed request cannot be retried as a new payment.
  • If the wallet outcome is unknown, the local safety hold remains across reloads. Do not start another payment. A manually supplied hash cannot clear an attempt for which the wallet returned no unique original hash merely because payer, recipient, asset and amount match.

Fees and limits

  • HPAY charges no service fee. You pay only the network gas, shown on the confirmation card before you sign.
  • QUAI transfers remain native-asset sends. WQI is a separate direct ERC-20 transfer with no WQI dollar quote or dollar peg; the recipient must accept it.
  • Memo: 140 characters at most.
  • Amount: 100 characters at most. A longer one is refused with "That amount is too long. Enter a number like 1.5."

Common mistakes

  • Wrong network. If you see "Wrong network — switch your wallet to Quai Mainnet (chain 9) to continue.", switch networks in your wallet and try again.
  • Qi address. HPAY does not send to native Qi addresses. Ask for a Quai account address (starts with 0x00) or a Hartii @name.
  • Name not found. "No Hartii profile owns @name" means the name is not registered. Double-check the spelling with the person.
  • Not enough QUAI. You need the amount plus gas. Top up and review again.
  • Wallet changed. If you switch accounts or networks mid-way, HPAY says "Wallet changed. Review the recipient and amount again before sending." Press Review send again.
  • Pending for a long time. Open the Transaction link on Quaiscan and wait. Never send the payment again until you have checked; you could pay twice.
  • Sharing a prefilled link. A native QUAI link like hartiibiome.com/hpay?to=@name&amount=5 only fills in the form. An asset-bound WQI request uses v2 and its WQI: marker; a v1-only reader must refuse it instead of treating it as QUAI. Neither link sends anything without a fresh review and approval in the payer's own wallet.
